Hm, 2 years. I was working on a sequel system to CIM, and functionally am nearly done on the mechanics.... But I think I changed too much, and it doesn't feel the same, I constrained the game too much with the things you were expected to and could do. Ironically the kinds of games CiM was good at (adventure) was the one area the new system totally failed, so I'm going back to the drawing board for the sequel. I'm not changing the core mechanics at all, only cleaning up and improving.
2e And Revised and What I'm Doing.
If anyone is actually listening, I see actually notable reactions to my account but it is ALWAYS 2e. Is it the combat system? Is it THAT good? If so I'm....Impressed with myself. Or is revised super storytellyness that off putting to people? Because my current system is even more "A game about weird story bullshit". I legit want to know why 2e just gets so much activity and revised sees nothing. Not to say I'm not proud of 2e, I just finished it, though I think AT THIS POINT i could do a new run of it as I have a number of fixes I could make, and at least two destinies I think are interesting enough to be made into full spirits/elements. (I think going back to spirit would be better because it comes up.) Namely Sky painter and Winter. But then I'd live in a game where honesty exists and my 2e Based game uses winter to not have to look at honesty as the low complexity tank. (I think honesty is the least fun spirit to GM for, straight up.)
Revised is done, I'm still working
So I pushed out revised and I stand at a quandary I solved in making it. I like the two systems I have now, but I think they've reached their limit for being pony rpgs, I want to build on these foundations, I want to keep working, but to do that I need to maybe give these systems breathing room. I'm going to build on both CIM2e and Revised as fully separate systems, non-pony systems. If you like my designs and my work, please, keep following. If you were just here for the pony, please, enjoy it, but CIM is complete.
Not dead, progressing well
No updates for a long time, but a whole lot of changes! A lot has been done, in this time it's just been on the discord and in my playtest caimpaign. In fact, outside maybe adding a few merits and another alicorn destiny (The alicorn destinys feel a bit light if you don't end up dark/chaos.) which would bring the count to a full 25x25. I am mostly doing the GMing chapters and redoing the explanations at this point. The rules need clarifying, and the GM needs help implementing some of the weirder concepts. But a lot of my desires really work, seeing characters fail when they could do so much more because of the exponential effect of the difficulty curve and the flat probability of the d20. High level characters can just...put reality on pause while they mythic fight for control of the narrative, it's batshit. The Embrace of legacy play has worked out amazingly, my playtest campaign is on generation 3 and it adds a new dimension to the game having old characters running around in the
